The author, Matthias Rath, M.D., is an internationally respected cardiovascular researcher, health pioneer and consumer advocate.
This book provides powerful insight into Dr Rath’s theory about the real underlying causes of heart disease and how to be proactive in the prevention of this disease.
In Why Animals Don’t Get Heart Attacks, But People Do, Dr. Rath asserts that high cholesterol is not the actual cause of heart disease.
Dr. Rath’s research shows the true cause of heart disease not high cholesterol, but a deficiency of vitamin C and other essential nutrients in the cells composing the heart and coronary arteries.
When the artery wall is weakened by vitamin deficiency, the body responds by producing excess cholesterol in the liver and depositing it in the injured artery.
This situation is reversable with nutritional therapy, however without treatment, the buildup of fats in the arteries will eventually lead to atherosclerosis, which is the true cause of heart attacks.
For example, bears have average cholesterol levels of 400 milligrams per deciliter of blood, but they never have heart attacks. The reason, according to Dr. Rath, is because bears produce large amounts of vitamin C, which optimizes collagen production and ensures maximum health of their artery walls.
Modern humans, by comparison, produce no vitamin C and consume only about 110 milligrams of vitamin C from their daily diet. Early hunter-gatherers who foraged for food are believed to have consumed around 640 mg of vitamin C per day from plant foods such as fruits vegetables and nuts.
The modern diet is lacking in plant foods needed to provide adequate vitamin intake and Vitamin C deficiency is universal in modern humans.
Dr. Rath explains what the reader can use vitamin therapy and nutrition to prevent heart attacks and other cardiovascular conditions naturally. for preventing and improving heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart failure, arrhythmia, diabetes and other conditions.
Why Animals Don’t Get Heart Attacks empowers readers to improve their health with nuitrition, to take control of their cardiovascular health and end their dependency on pharmaceutical drugs.
